Doom or Glory

During the long weekend, Jill, Pam and I thought that both Fifi and Chrie will be heading out to HKG with their family. Since we were not actually related to them by blood, Jill thought that we who were left out should go exercise and get our creative juices flowing and capture 'em in black and white film.

We scheduled a location shoot in UST last November 1. Since I didn't have my black & white film at the moment, I had to settle for my Holga loaded with a colored roll and of course my D40x. I arrived a little late for our appointment and I was left with barely an hour and a half of sunlight.

Sunday, Jill invited a couple of lomopeeps to her lovely home to develop and (contact) print our films in her darkroom. I was trying to finish up my black & while roll so as I could participate. But since I was unsuccessful in doing so, I had to sit out the darkroom session. Bummer.

*****

While everybody was trying to make something good from their black and white films, I had a situation that I thought was big for me to handle. Friends (Benjie for one) have tried to pressure convince me to do it. But I never even had the slightest courage to imagine myself in such situation. It was a choice I had to make. It was a choice, unlike the others' black and white films and contact prints who can redo their shots, that can't go wrong. Otherwise I had to sit it out for the next couple of weeks or months should anything does.

I was scared..
I was nervous..
I was anxious..

and I was excited all at the same time...I was getting a haircut.

The buzzzzz of the razor replaced the more familiar snip-snip of the scissors (which I had a little trauma from). It channeled a different sensation on my scalp as it breezed through and traced the curves of my head. In a time shorter than the length of my wait in the queues of David's Salon, my haircut was done.

giff with hairgiff kalbo

A lot of people around me were surprised to see me supporting this haircut. One particularly asked, "Hindi nga Giff, eh ang vain-vain mo sa buhok, bakit ka nagpakalbo?"

Well, maybe because of stress. Maybe because I wanted a change..
But whatever my reasons are, I don't think I am ready to tell them anytime soon.

Whether things went well or not, I sure don't have any regrets getting myself in this situation this haircut. As a matter of fact, I like it! :D

i was browsing through some Lomomanila threads when I suddenly bumped into your blog. Hahaha. Kilala ko yang pusa na kinuhanan mo ng pic! That cat is so skinny tapos lagi siyang tumatambay sa Plaza Mayor. Hehehe. I'm from UST kasi, wala lang. :) UST's indeed one of the great places to take good photos. :)
